Meet and Greet 07/06/2023
We met some awesome people from diverse and interesting backgrounds, who shared their stories and ideas on how we can use AI to solve some of the important problems we are facing in South Florida. We also had some fun voting for the topics that we want to learn more about in our future events.
Here are some highlights from our event:
* 30 participants from students to experts, from AI scientists to investors, serial entrepreneurs and developers
* Top three topics voted by the participants: AI in finance, AI in healthcare, and AI in cybersecurity
* Next event on 8/3/2023: A talk by a local expert in AI and finance, who will share their insights and experience on how AI is revolutionizing the financial industry
* Vision: To make Miami a leading hub for AI innovation, education, and community
* Mission: To create and support a diverse and inclusive community of AI enthusiasts and professionals in Miami, who learn from each other, collaborate on projects, and showcase their work to the world
* In 2 weeks, we have 140+ members in the club and growing
The Future of AI and Finance: Learn from a Fintech Startup Success Story [August 2023]
The Miami AI Club hosted its second meetup on Thursday, August 3, 2023, and it was the first in-person event since the pandemic. The meetup was a huge success, with more than 40 attendees joining the lively and interactive session. The club had to rearrange the conference room to accommodate everyone, thanks to the generous support of Center for Social Change, Ivan Dynamo De Jesus, Will and Elvis.
The speaker of the night was Yoel Gavlovski, the founder and CEO of QUASH, a solution that uses auto-machine learning and alternative data points to assess credit applicants for financial institutions. Yoel shared his story of how he started his company, why he chose this problem, what challenges he faced, how he acquired his first customers, how he scaled his business, and more. He also answered many questions from the audience, who were curious about his technology, his vision, and his advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
I was the moderator and Sara Zargaran helped with the logistics and coordination of the event.
The meetup attracted a diverse group of people who are interested in artificial intelligence, such as full stack developers, data scientists, IT managers, founders, CEOs, tech evangelists, and more. The attendees had a lot of brainstorming and interesting conversations that were recorded and published on YouTube. The event lasted for more than four hours, even though it was scheduled to end by 9 pm. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were palpable and contagious.
