Day 001/365

Just grabbed my badge for FII Priority Summit; The marathon of conversations starts tonight with Conclave of the FII AI Coalition dinner. This is one of those conferences that I’m very excited about.

Post 2 Day 1: Today, I’ve decided to push past my limitations regarding the number of posts I share on LinkedIn and delve into my personal journey as a curious mind, AI builder, and activist.

The day kicked off with breakfast alongside Brandon, an entrepreneur, activist and venture capitalist at Lionheart Ventures, at Edition Hotel in Miami Beach where a single coffee sets you back $9! Brandon Goldman shares my passion for AI safety and is actively involved in creating the first fund dedicated to this cause. He’s an incredibly impressive individual and, like me, a fellow vegan. We talked hours around how to bring empathy to machines.

Afterward, I collected my badge for the FII Priority Summit at the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. This event boasts an exceptional lineup of speakers, from Steven Mnuchin and Mike Pompeo to Marcelo Claure, Michael Dell and Shervin Pishevar. The conference, backed by Saudi Arabia, has done an outstanding job assembling its speakers.

I’m particularly thrilled about the conclave of the coalition of AI safety, where a select group of activists from around the world will gather for lunch tomorrow. It’s an extremely exclusive affair, and this evening, we shared drinks at the Faena Hotel before Brandon, David Langer and Renée Alexiev of Lionheart venture firm generously treated us to dinner at the Faena restaurant. With two vegans and two vegetarians among us, Brandon expertly curated a plant-based menu. Tomorrow, the small conclave group will convene for lunch with delegates from Saudi Arabia.

In the evening, I had the pleasure of meeting a handful of selected scholars and AI safety delegates from various countries, including Canada, the UAE, and France. I found a lot of synergy with Dr. Seth Dobrin and his work around AI in UAE and Saudi Arabia, his journey from a neuropsychogenetic PHD to IBM and responsible AI is fascinating. He’s also creating an accelerator around responsible AI supporting early stage startups. Our conversations revolved around AI safety, why we’ve chosen to advocate for it, and the hundreds of millions of dollars my friends are raising to revolutionize the field. My good friend Cyrus Hodes is creating another amazing venture in generative AI, this time as a fund. His last startup Stability AI is one of the biggest gen-AI companies.

The statute at Faena Hotel is called Battle of Corporate Nations or AI WAR! Impressive work by SEBASTIAN ERRAZURIZ.

Tomorrow is another big day!
