Question from Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies: If we’re in a science fiction movie how do you see the future of AI?
Before going to his response let’s see who Alex is.
Alex Karp is super intelligent. He’s a cofounder of Palantir alongside Peter thiel and the CEO of the company since inception, a very successful one, with great dual use technologies. He is also the CEO with the highest paycheck in history, $1.1 B was paid to him during the IPO in 2020.
He has strong views about the US being the global force of good and that we have to advance the most in AI. Some of his views are controversial. Anyway his company is one of the pillars of the Ukraine defense against russia.
After the event I asked him if the world is a better place if Palantir has access to AGI. He didn’t respond as he was on the rush and promised an interview.
I do not think the world is a better place if any company has access to AGI. I do agree with his point here that the future with AI is undecided, it can go either way, and we have a very short period of time, 18 months, to figure things out.
