Rocky joined Reeze in less than 5 months. He grieved silently and wanted to go, no vet could figure it out, and as a doctor, I couldn’t figure it out, Ankit and Sara spent hours on natural remedy plans, and they couldn’t figure it out, This was one of the most baffling cases for all of us. Once he must go, he goes. No one could stop him.
Whales have the same behavior. whales and dolphins mourn their dead pod mates and relatives in their own ways. One mom was observed pushing the body of her dead calf for over two weeks during which time she may have traveled 1,000 miles. Dolphins do the same, grieving for their loved ones. Elephants mourn beautifully, horses too, in the most sacred and emotionally intelligent ceremonies.
What we call grief, scientists call postmortem attentive behavior and it’s universal across all mamalians. The emotional structure of the brain is similar across all mammals. We all have the limbic system. The BELBIC is designed based on the mammalian brain structure. We all have amygdala, orbitofrontal cortex, thalamus, hypothalamus, sensory cortex, etc. The humans and other mammals all share the same emotional processing infrastructure, we share the same neuronal networks, we share the same hormones, so we project similar emotional behavior, the same emotional journey, and we have similar emotional experiences; the paint, palette, brush and the canvas is the same, the painting is different.
If we appreciate their painting, we will appreciate our paintings. It requires a lot of emotional development from our side to be able to see other beings’ paintings. We should have a clear perspective, more open eyes. Not all of us can do this, the ones who do, will make the world a better place.
Respect!
