Day 8 – Children and AI: My Learnings from the Interactions of Children with AI at the Frost Museum
When we received the invitation from the Frost Museum, we happily accepted. Sara Zargaran , Felicita J Sandoval MSc., CFE , Akash Parvatikar, Ph.D. , Adnaan C , Umit Vatandost and I volunteered, and it was such a fun day. Children are quick learners, and their conversations with DALLE were quite impressive. They were impressed too. It was a super fun day at the Frost Museum with 2500-3000 visitors of all ages.
One of the future events we announced is “Emotions and AI,” and I’m also writing a book on this subject. What interests me, and many people I speak with, is the impact of AI on the emotional learning of children when a lot of their interactions shift to their personalized AI teacher. There is no question that education will be one of the most impacted industries. Teachers are trying to figure things out, and this is an important consideration when studying the cognitive growth of children, which happens to be influenced by, let’s say, ChatGPT.
From a young age, when children start interacting with AI and the machines can choose one answer over another when children ask questions, it’s important to consider how this would impact their emotional growth. I’ve had some fascinating conversations about this subject with Erika Twani , Ankit Virmani , Parinaz Khazaee and Adnaan C
Many people are excited about this topic. Let me know your thoughts.
